EA and Starbreeze’s reboot of Syndicate recently snuck onto store shelves with more of a whisper than a bang. I’ll have my full review up next week (if you all wish really hard and are super nice to each other, it’ll be Monday) but in the mean time I wanted to share a few screenshots with you. Syndicate is a very serious, po-faced game, so I thought it’d be nice to take a look at its lighter side…literally. You see, Syndicate has a – how can I put this nicely? – ”overactive” bloom filter. And by “overactive,” I mean “nuclear meltdown around every corner.”
So join me, gentle reader, as we take a journey through some of Syndicate’s bloomiest moments….
One quick note: other than cropping and resizing, none of these images have been altered in any way. These are all genuine screenshots. Click to see them full size – though have a pair of sunglasses handy!
I think this is supposed to be an advert of some kind: though what for, I have no idea, as I’ve gone blind.
As hard as it may be to believe, that lightsplosion is being cause by the two tiny lamps above my head.
Broken windows. Light’s coming in from outside, right? Wrong. This level took place at night.
This small light not only guides people towards the fire exit, but also reminds people what fire looks like.
This is how the kitchens in Fallout should have looked: irradiated.
Don’t be fooled by the fuzzy HUD: this is no illusion. This room always looks like this.
Believe it or not, this gun has a full sight on top. And a barrel at the front.
Eurocorp have an exceptionally high turnover rate: 90% of employees go blind in their first week.
This is an air vent. With no lighting. Come on now!
And here’s a very special one which I just had to save for last…
Again, I’d like to stress these are all genuine screenshots. I can’t remember how this happened, but it happened.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief but blinding look into the world of Syndicate. Join us again on Monday when I’ll have the full review, including some slightly darker screenshots.
